At any time, there are a variety of state and Federal incentives available for your energy improvement projects. We can help you find and file for these.
We can also help you obtain financing at low-interest rates for qualified projects.
$100 Home Energy Audits
We participate in the BGE Smart Energy Savers Program, the Pepco, SMECO, and Delmarva Home Performance Programs, and are a qualified contractor in the Maryland Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program. For most Maryland homeowners, our full-service Home Energy Audit (regular price $400) costs you only $100. Additional charges may apply for larger home and longer drive times.
In addition, by having an energy audit performed by a certified Home Performance with ENERGY STAR contractor, MD utility companies will cover 50% of the costs of the most commonly recommended energy improvements up to $2,000.
Efficient Home is a registered Contractor with the Home Performance Rebate Programs for these sponsors. Your Building Analyst will work with you to maximize your rebate and process your filing.
Rebates on Energy Improvement Contracting
50% rebate up to $2,000 for the most commonly needed improvements, such as insulation and air sealing, PLUS up to an additional $1,500 for equipment upgrades with ENERGY STAR equipment. Total available per home is $3,500 or more.
We will help coordinate your projects to take full advantage of the incentives that are appropriate for your home. Restrictions apply. Some improvements with incentives may not be appropriate for all homes.
Energy Save Installs at no Extra Charge
All qualifying utility customers are also eligible for the installation of up to $325 worth of energy saving products for no additional cost during your Home Energy Audit. This is our way of thanking you for investing in energy efficiency with gifts that will boost your energy savings even further.
The utilities also offer rebates on purchases of new Energy Star appliances. Your Home Energy Audit will identify your best opportunities for upgrades.
Federal Tax Credits An Additional Information
Residential Tax Credit
There is a tax credit for energy efficient home improvements, such as insulation and air sealing. The residential energy efficiency tax credit covers 10% of the cost of some energy efficient home improvements, up to a cap of $500. Many worthwhile residential energy improvements are covered by this credit, including air sealing and insulation upgrades. For these building envelope improvements, the credit is calculated as 10% of the cost of materials only, not installation.
In addition, the installation of energy efficient heating & cooling equipment, water heaters, windows, doors and roofs are also covered. However, there are individual caps for many of these items.
Renewable Energy Tax Credit
There is a Federal Tax Credit for renewable energy installations completed by 2016. A tax credit is available to cover 30% of the total costs of installation for eligible renewable energy systems completed before December 31, 2016. Both retrofits and new construction are covered, and there is no cap on the amount of the credit. Check the Energy Star website for more details.
Refer to the excellent DSIRE website for a comprehensive, yet simple explanation of ALL on federal, state and local energy incentives, including both residential and commercial. It is organized by where your project is located, so you can identify the specific programs that are available to you.
