Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index Rating
The Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) HERS Rating is a nationally recognized system for calculating a home’s projected energy performance.

The HERS Index is a score that allows a home to be directly compared to other homes receiving HERS Ratings, as well as be compared to the energy use of typical existing homes.

It's a great marketing tool, and can easily be incorporated into sales and marketing efforts.

Many builders around the nation are committed to providing a HERS Index on every new home, and the HERS Index is also gaining traction in MLS listings.

Requirements:

  • An insulation inspection
  • Duct testing
  • Blower door testing
  • Energy modeling in software approved by RESNET

Because HERS Ratings include the testing required for passing the 2012 or 2015 IECC, code compliance documentation is included in HERS Rating packages.

Completing a HERS Rating is also a great way to get feedback and guidance during the building process on how to meet the IECC 2012 or 2015 standards, and meet compliance through the UA Trade-off, or performance path.
